Alright, let’s ditch the academic jargon and talk about real power. If you want more clubhead speed, you’ve probably heard a million different tips. But the science is in, and it’s not about swinging harder—it’s about training smarter.

Here’s the straight talk on how to actually boost your clubhead speed, backed by what the pros and top researchers are doing right now.


Elevating Your Clubhead Speed

You want more speed? Of course you do. Every golfer dreams of an extra 10, 20, even 30 yards off the tee. For years, the advice was simple: hit the gym, get strong. And while strength is definitely a piece of the puzzle, the latest research shows it’s only one ingredient in a much more explosive recipe.

Think of it this way: a car with a big engine is strong, but a Formula 1 car launches because of how it applies that power. Your golf swing is no different.

1. It’s All About Impulse, Not Just Force

This is where the real speed comes from. “Impulse” is just a fancy word for how much force you can apply over a very short period of time. In your golf swing, you only have milliseconds to generate all that power.
